Environment Minister visits two PECT projects (March 2006)
The Environment Minister, Elliot Morley, visited the East of England on 2 March to see how businesses and projects are setting an example to the rest of the region when it comes to living and working in a sustainable and 'green way'. The Minister was shown how Norwich & Peterborough Building Society has been using PECT's award-winning Business & Environment Management Scheme (BeMS) to achieve more sustainable profits whilst reducing their environment impact.
The Environment Minister, Elliot Morley, visited the East of England on 2 March to see how businesses and projects are setting an example to the rest of the region when it comes to living and working in a sustainable and 'green way'. The Minister was shown how Norwich & Peterborough Building Society has been using PECT's award-winning Business & Environment Management Scheme (BeMS) to achieve more sustainable profits whilst reducing their environment impact.
The Minister also visited the Hamptons Development and met a new resident who recieved one of PECT's 'Sustainable Living Welcome Pack'. The pack is part of PECT's Seeding Sustainable Communities project and the 'goody bag' is full of information about environmental issues, activities in the local community and free environmental products.

Hampton residents learn how to conserve water (March 2006)
With concerns about drought looming, tips on how to conserve water are even more important. Residents in the Hamptons have a chance to explore this and other water issues at a Water Efficiency Event to be held on Sunday 2 April, from 3-5 pm in the Hampton Hargate Community Room, Hargate Way, Hampton Hargate, Peterborough. New Environmental Education Website Launch (December 2006)
An exciting new environmental education website for secondary schools will be launched on 11 December 2006 at The King's School, Peterborough.

Greener Futures is a fun and interactive website and currently exists for primary school children. Over the past year, Peterborough Environment City Trust has been working with Crystal Presentations Ltd, a multimedia design company, to create a section of the website for secondary schools. Used in schools, the website is designed to demonstrate the impact that pupils have on the environment.
Pupils at two local schools, The King's School and Hampton College, have been involved in the design and development of the game.

The Key Stage 3 website includes a questionnarire and data analysis section and also the spectacular 'Green Planet' game. [ click here to play the game ]

The Future for a Sustainable Peterborough - PECT's Annual Review,

Eastex comes up smelling of roses (September 2006)
Businesses and other organisations in Peterborough and surrounding areas continue to make big gains from goods passed on through the new Materials Exchange, Eastex. The Exchange aims to find homes for everything from everyday items to the more bizarre, such as three tonnes of potpourri which was recently donated to the education and play community group, ComPASS Re-store by Peterborough-based cosmetics firm Potter and Moore. Green Festival Children's Poetry Book 2006

As part of the Peterborough Green Festival, budding young poets from across Peterborough who took part in an environmental themed poetry competition had their poems published in a special edition book. The book, published by Upfront Publishing, was promoted at Waterstones, Peterborough for a limited period after the Festival.

Free Home Insulation for Peterborough Residents (May 2006)
